Virginia Legal Resources
General Resources
- Virginia General Assembly and Government

Users will find a wide array of legislative information contained in the Virginia General Assembly home pages. Included is general
information about the legislative process and its participants as well as the full text, summaries, status history of bills and resolutions
and schedules of activity. Full text searching is also available for the Code of Virginia, Virginia Administrative Code and bills and
resolutions. Several legislative agencies provide information about their organizations and topics of interest related to their function.
Hot-links to other state legislative information systems on the internet are also available.
- Department of Transportation

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is responsible for building, maintaining and operating the state's roads, bridges and
tunnels. And, through the Commonwealth Transportation Board, it also provides funding for airports, seaports, rail and public
transportation.
- State Council of Higher Education

The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) is the state's coordinating body for higher education. Its responsibilities
include enrollment projections, budget planning, institutional approvals, assessment, and others. Below you can access information
about the Council's programs and activities and read about the Council's purpose and responsibilities.
- Elected Officials
Listing of elected officials with links to their home pages.
- Department of Education
The Virginia Department of Education supports and strongly encourages schools/divisions to develop an Acceptable Use Policy. To
assist in that effort, we have created an electronic "handbook" of resources. Since schools are at various stages of implementation in
the use of computer networks, this electronic handbook does not prescribe a single Acceptable Use Policy. Instead, it provides links
to various sources of information that may be helpful to administrators, teachers, library media specialists, and parents in the
development of a local AUP. The Internet is a virtual community based simply on courtesy and commonsense. A local AUP reflects
the circumstances unique to the school or division, the electronic system used, and clearly defines what constitutes local responsible use
of information networks.
- Virginia Library and Information Network (VLIN)
The Library's Main Home Page contains detailed information about the facility and services.
