  The Maryland Historical Trust was formed in 1961 to assist the people of Maryland in identifying, studying, evaluating, preserving, protecting, and interpreting the state's significant prehistoric and historic districts, sites, structures, cultural landscapes, heritage areas, cultural objects, and artifacts, as well as less tangible human and community traditions.

  The Maryland Department of Human Resources (DHR) serves families and individuals who are in need of temporary economic assistance and vulnerable children and adults seeking protection from abuse or neglect. Operating through 24 local Departments of Social Services, DHR is responsible for the administration of all major social service programs across the State. Today, DHR encompasses five administrations: Child Care, Social Services, Family Investment, Child Support Enforcement, and Community Services.
