Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex. Sexual discrimination in the workplace has been the subject of much litigation and the much of the law is the product of judicial decisions. In the workplace, it is illegal to discriminate against female workers doing the same jobs as male workers. Consequently, female workers are entitled to equal pay and benefits provided to male employees doing the same work.
