HRT Health Risks - Ovarian Cancer
In 2002, the National Cancer Institute published a study that suggested an association between the use of estrogen-only hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and the development of ovarian cancer. The data suggested that the risk of developing ovarian cancer increased with the length of time estrogen-only HRT was used.
According to this study, women who were using estrogen-only hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for 20 years or longer are subject to a three-fold greater risk of developing ovarian cancer than women who did not use such therapy.
