Hormone Replacement Therapy HRT Health Risks - Breast Cancer The association between the development of breast cancer, particularly invasive or infiltrating lobular breast cancer and ductal breast cancer, and hormone replacement drugs such as Prempro®, Provera®, Premphase®, FemHRT® and the generic medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA), has been demonstrated by a number of clinical studies. Perhaps the most widely-published data came from the work of the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) which demonstrated an association between breast cancer and the use of combination hormone replacement therapy drugs such as Prempro®, Premphase® and FemHRT®. Data from the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) study was released in July, 2002 and demonstrated such a compelling link between hormone replacement therapy and serious health conditions, such as invasive (infiltrating) lobular breast cancer and ductal breast cancer, that the study was terminated.
